General Questions

How does the service work?

This service allows you to use a Voucher/Redemption Code that can be found behind your PNY product, to get one or more free movie downloads from Sony Pictures. You simply Register (or Login if you are a returning user), enter your Voucher/Redemption Code, select your movie and download.

How do I register?

Click on REGISTER on the home page or go to http://www1.movie-promo.com/PNY-US/Register. Enter your email address. Enter a password and re-enter it to confirm it. Enter the two words that you can see in the ‘CAPTCHA’ box. Ensure that you have a space between the two words. If you have trouble using the ‘CAPTCHA’ please click the

icon on the ‘CAPTCHA’ for help.

Where can I find my Voucher/Redemption Code?

If you found this web page, then you’ve likely found the “hidden” web site on the product’s package. The actual Voucher/Redemption Code appears immediately below, or next to, the URL: www.PNY.com/Movies, and depending on which PNY product you purchased, your Voucher/Redemption Code is located on or inside the package in one of the following locations:

PNY Flash Cards and USB Drives – the Voucher/Redemption Code is located inside the package and is hidden behind the memory card case, or the USB Flash drive. It will be visible from the front of the package once the product has been removed.
PNY Graphics Cards – under the shrink wrap on the graphics card box, you will see a promo sticker on the front of the graphics box. This is a peel-open sticker, and the Voucher/Redemption Code can be found on the inside of the sticker.

How many movies can I download?

Enter your Voucher/Redemption Code (http://www1.movie-promo.com/PNY-US/EnterCode) and the system will tell you how many movies you can download.

Can I purchase movies from www.pny.com/movies?

Sorry, but this site is currently only for the download of digital copies of movies using the special Voucher/Redemption Codes behind the product in specially marked packs of PNY products.

How do I download my movie?

Once you have entered your Voucher/Redemption Code into the system, click on the image of the movie that you want to download. You will be taken to a screen with a synopsis of the movie. At the bottom of the page will be a download movie button. When you click this button, PC users will be asked where to download the file to, Mac users will be required to install the PNY Movie Player and once downloaded (or already installed), run the application to start your download (the PNY Movie Player will be in your download folder if you haven’t moved it).
If needed you may have to install Microsoft Silverlight first.

On a Mac you can then open your downloads directory and run the PNY Movie Player using the icon.

How long will the download take?

The movie size varies depending on the length of the film. The time to download will vary depending on the speed of your internet connection. For Example:
900MB will take around 12 minutes at 10MB/s (DSL/Cable connection speed).
900MB will take around 1 hour at 2MB/s (Cable, DSL 2000 connection speed).
900MB will take around 2 hours at 1MB/s (Cable, DSL 1000, T1 connection speed).
900MB will take around 73 hours at 28.8KB/s (Dial Up connection speed).
1.7GB will take around 23 minutes at 10MB/s (DSL/Cable connection speed).
1.7GB will take around 1 hour 57 minutes at 2MB/s (DSL 2000 connection speed).
1.7GB will take around 3 hours 50 minutes at 1MB/s (Cable, DSL 1000, T1 connection speed).
1.7GB will take around 141 hours at 28.8KB/s (Dial Up connection speed).

What happens if my download fails?

If your download fails please contact pnysupport@movie-promo.com with the voucher code number you used and the problem you experienced and the technical staff will be happy to help with your query.

Do I need an internet connection to watch the movie?

The first time you play the movie Windows Media Player (PC users) or the PNY Movie Player (Mac users) will go and fetch a license from the license server. To do this you will need an internet connection. After that you will be able to watch this movie whenever you want (either online or offline) on that machine.

Can I watch this movie on my iPod?

Unfortunately no, the DRM content is only supported by Windows Media Player (PC users) and the PNY Movie Player (Mac users).

PC Questions

Saving a movie to your PC: Once you have selected a movie please select where you want the file saved on your PC. We recommend that you select your videos folder, usually titled “My Videos” or “Videos”. Windows Media Player monitors a few folders automatically, such as “My Videos”. If you save to another folder you will have to instruct the Windows Media Player to monitor that folder so you can see your movie in the Library list of Windows Media Player.
Saving a movie to a USB Drive or Flash Memory Card: This process is the same as downloading to your PC, but in this case you’ll need to specify the download location and save to a different drive letter and destination folder. Before preparing to download your movie, insert your USB drive into a free USB port, or your flash memory card into your system’s card reader. Once the drive or card is recognized by your PC, open “My Computer” and make a note of the letter assigned to your drive or card. Consider creating a new folder on the drive or card for storing your movies. Then proceed as if you were downloading directly to your PC (see “Saving a movie to your PC” above). You will have to instruct Windows Media Player to monitor that folder so you can see your movie in the Library list of Windows Media Player.
How do I play my movie?: To play the movie you will require Windows Media Player 11 or above. Double click the download movie to play the movie.
How do I stop watching a movie?: Use the normal Windows Media Player controls.
Where is the movie saved?: The movie will be saved at the location you chose when you downloaded the movie.
I want to watch this movie on another computer – how do I do this?: To watch this movie on another computer, copy the file onto it and play it using Windows Media Player 11 or above. This will prompt you to enter your email address and password that you registered on the Movie-Promo website.
Windows Media Player wants to do a security update: Depending on how often you use Windows Media Player it may need to get a security update from Microsoft. If Windows Media Player prompts for this, please accept the updates. You will have to hit play in Windows Media Player again to start watching your movie.
I get a security error when trying to play the movie: There are occasional issues with Digital Rights Management and Windows Media Player. If you see an error, try updating Windows Media Player to the latest version (Help > Check for Updates). If this doesn’t work please send details of the error message to pnysupport@movie-promo.com and our engineers will do their best to help you.
What happens if my download fails?: If your download fails, please re-attempt the download from the website. If this fails then please contact pnysupport@movie-promo.com with the voucher code you used and the problem you experienced and the technical staff will be happy to help with your query.

PNY Movie Player Questions

What is the PNY Movie Player?

The PNY Movie Player is a Microsoft Silverlight application designed by Eagle Eye Technology allowing DRM content to be played.

What is Microsoft Silverlight?

Microsoft Silverlight is a free plug-in from Microsoft that is required to run the PNY Movie Player.

What is the process for installing Microsoft Silverlight?

If you don’t have Microsoft Silverlight already installed, attempting to download a movie will prompt for the download of Microsoft Silverlight automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to install (you may be prompted to accept security warnings). For more details or to install Microsoft Silverlight manually, visit http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight.

What is the process for installing the PNY Movie Player?

If you don’t already have the PNY Movie Player installed, attempting to download a movie will prompt you with an installation box. Click “Install” and the PNY Movie Player will be installed. On a Mac you should then open your downloads directory and run the PNY Movie Player using the icon. On a PC you should double click the shortcut on your desktop or select the PNY Movie Player from the list of programs on your Start Menu.

How do I remove the PNY Movie Player?

There are two methods for uninstalling the PNY Movie player:

1. Follow your normal operating systems method of uninstalling a program, looking for the PNY Movie Player.
2. When the PNY Movie Player is running, right click anywhere on the screen and select “Remove this application...”. You will be asked to confirm the removal, click “Yes” and the PNY Movie Player will be uninstalled.

Do I need to install the PNY Movie Player to play the movie?

Yes. Each movie is protected by Microsoft PlayReady DRM. The PNY Movie Player unlocks this DRM and allows you to view the movie. If you try and play the movie through separate software it is unlikely to work.

How do I run the PNY Movie Player?

On a Mac you can open your downloads directory and run the PNY Movie Player using the icon.

On a PC you can double click the shortcut on your desktop or select the PNY Movie Player from the list of programs on your Start Menu.

PNY Movie Player Command Buttons:

The commands listed below will be available depending on the items downloading and their status. If a command is not available for the selected item, the button will be greyed out.

Play Movie Symbol: Plays the movie full screen. To stop the movie playing full screen press the Escape key or click the “Full Screen” icon on the PNY Movie Player controls. This is only available when a movie has been downloaded
Delete Movie Symbol (a Cross Symbol): Allows you to delete the movie from the PNY Movie Player. Note that this will delete the movie from your computer.

How do I stop movie playback and exit the PNY Movie Player?

Simply exit full screen mode and close the PNY Movie Player in the same way that you would close a normal program.

How do I stop watching a movie?

If you hover your mouse cursor over the top left hand corner of the screen, a little HOME symbol will appear. Clicking on this symbol will take you back to the download summary page.

Where is the movie saved?

The movie is saved in your movies folder.

It is saying that there is a new version of the PNY Movie Player, what should I do?

Follow the on screen instructions, but basically you just need to close the PNY Movie Player and open it again and the new version will have been picked up.

I have deleted the shortcut to the PNY Movie Player – how do I get it to work?

If you have deleted the shortcut, you must reinstall the PNY Movie Player. To uninstall, see the “How do I uninstall the PNY Movie Player” section above. Then install the PNY Movie Player (see “What is the process of installing the PNY Movie Player” above if you need help with this).

I want to watch this movie on another computer – how do I do this?

To watch this movie on another computer, you will need to login to the Movie-Promo website on that computer and download the movie. The website will know that you have already downloaded the movie and allow the movie to download again. This will only work if you have enough licenses available (you are given three licenses), see “What is a License?” below for more information.

What happens if my download fails?

If your download fails, please close and restart the PNY Movie Player. This should allow the PNY Movie Player to restart the download. If this fails, delete the movie from the PNY Movie Player and log into the Movie-Promo website and try and download the movie again. If this also fails, see the “Common Errors” section below or contact pnysupport@movie-promo.com with the voucher code you used and the problem you experienced and the technical staff will be happy to help with your query.

The list below shows the possible errors you many encounter whilst using the PNY Movie Player.

Err1: There was an error issuing the license.
Err2: Sorry but you have used all of your licenses for this movie.

Err4: The installation of Silverlight on the client is out of date and needs to be updated.
Err5: A problem occurred during file download. Please restart the PNY Movie Player to restart download
Err6: Unable to load details of the movies you’ve downloaded. Please restart the PNY Movie Player and download the movie from the movie-promo site again.
Err7: Unable to connect to a server. Please restart PNY Movie Player.
Err8: Could not download as no network connection available. Please reconnect network cable.
Err9: Error during download. {Additional, specific, error info}
Err10: Unable to play this movie as the file could not be found.
Err11: A problem occurred during file download. Please restart the PNY Movie Player to restart download.

Digital Rights Questions

What is Digital Rights Management?: Digital Rights Management is a mechanic to control the distribution of digital content on the Internet. A piece of content has a license associated to it that controls the actions you are allowed to perform with the content.
What is a License?: A license is linked to the machine you are playing the content on. Each download has three licenses allowable so you can download and play the content on three machines.
How do I get a License?: When a computer plays the content, it will attempt to acquire a license, your machine must be on the Internet to acquire the license.
Can I copy my movie to another computer?: You will have to re-download the movie on the 2nd computer, but you only have three licenses so this movie will only play on three separate compatible devices.
Will my movie expire?: Once the movie has played on your machine you can continue to play that movie forever. There is no time limit.
However, if you want to download your additional license you need to do it before the promotion ends as specified in the Terms and Conditions.
How many times can I download my movie?: Every time you download a different movie from the system you use up one of your credits. If you want to play the same movie on three computers, download the file once on each computer that you want to play the movie on, this will only use up one download credit in total.
What if I delete my movie?: Restore it from the Recycle Bin. If it is not in the recycle bin then the movie has gone and you will need to use another download credit to get the movie again.

What if I cannot view my movie?

Run through the following checklist:

PC users must be trying to play the movie in Windows Media Player 11 or above.
Mac users must be trying to play the movie in the PNY Movie Player.
You must accept any updates that Windows Media Player (PC users) or the PNY Movie Player (Mac users) prompts you to make when you try and play the movie.
You must be connected to the internet when you try and play the movie for the first time.
You must not have used up your three licenses
You must ensure that your computer meets the minimum spec to play this product.
This will only work with Windows Media Player 11 or above (PC users) or the PNY Movie Player (Mac users). This will not work in iTunes or on an iPod.
